The Oldest Fair in Ireland….Killorglin’s Puck Fair

Every August in Kerry, the town of Killorglin hosts the “Puck Fair” which dates back to pre 1603!! There are many stories of how this fair came about,  very inventive ones, but it is the oldest traditional fair in Ireland….that much they are sure of! August 10th each year the town’s population swells with visitors and returning friends arriving to enjoy the celebrations. Traditionally the fair comprised of August 10th the Gathering Day,11th Fair Day, 12th Scattering Day however this year to celebrate 400 years of the fair they have added an additional day with the Fair starting on August 9th.
