Runaway Bride & Groom at Waterford Castle, Ireland

The race begins at Waterford Castle

Waterford Castle held their All-Island Open Day on July 18th and it included a BBQ, family gardens games, children’s entertainment, face painting, bouncy castle and live music. The main event was their 2nd 5K Island Run.
Almost 300 runners took part and among them were newly married couple Susan & Allan Crowley who celebrated their big day that same weekend. In the spirit of the Fun Run Susan wore her wedding veil and bouquet and Shane wore his wedding shirt and cravat!

The overall winner of the run Shane Quinn was delighted with his result, and quoted that ‘it was a perfect day for running, the conditions were just right, the temperature was mild and the run was really enjoyable’.
A donation from the event will be given to the Paediatric Unit at Waterford Regional Hospital, a very deserving cause.
Joanna Hannick, Sales & Marketing Manager at Waterford Castle commented – “everyone was here for a great cause, great fun was had by all and the newlyweds will have a weekend they are not likely to forget for many years to come. Waterford Castle was alive with visitors and we hope they all come to see us more often.”
