Every visitor to Bath will want to explore where the story all began at the Roman Baths. This ancient bathing complex not only allows us view the Sacred Spring (which was part of the temple to Sulis Minerva) and several of the Roman baths, but the excellent displays also teach us an extraordinary amount about daily life Roman Bath. Allow for a good couple of hours to explore at your leisure (guided tours and audioguides are provided with your entrance ticket).
When you’re done exploring Roman Bath, you should repair next door to the glorious 18th century splendour of The Pump Room for dinner, tea, or light refreshments, with your appetite whetted by glasses of the famous medicinal water from the spa spring. Musical accompaniment is often provided by the Pump Room Trio, the longest established resident ensemble in Europe. Dinner on the terrace, with views over The Great Bath, is particularly magical.
