Blessed with an ideal location on the border between Mid Wales and Shropshire, Milebrook House is an utterly delightful family-run country house ideal for walking, cycling or just lazing about.  Now lovingly overseen by three generations of the Marsden family, Milebrook was built in the 18th century and was once the home of celebrated explorer and travel writer Sir Wilfred Thesiger.

From the moment you arrive, peace and relaxation are the watchwords. The interior is homely and traditionally decorated, the beds are comfortable, and you can settle down with a drink next to the log fire in the book-lined sitting room. The three acres of gardens and grounds surrounding Milebrook House are fantastic to explore and include formal gardens, a croquet lawn, terrace, herbaceous borders, gazebo, kitchen garden and more, all gently sloping down to the lovely River Teme with stunning views across to the Shropshire Hills, a designated Outstanding Area of Natural Beauty. Rodney Marsden is an outdoor enthusiast, and he can advise you on local walking trails, bird watching, plus the hotel can help arrange fly fishing and cycling holidays. For golfers there are nearby courses at Knighton, Kington and Ludlow.
Return from your explorations to some of the best food in the area. The menu is seasonal and the produce is locally sourced, with many of the vegetables coming direct from the kitchen garden. Meat, including succulent Welsh lamb and Hereford beef, also comes from the area, as do the delicious cheeses. All the bread and pastries served are homemade.

The surrounding area is fabulous walking country, with Offa’s Dyke and Glyndwr Away very close by. Ludlow, with its splendid Norman castle, narrow alleys, market square and excellent restaurants is only 12 miles away. Even closer to hand are the border townships of Clun, Bishops Castle, Kington and Presteigne with its historic Judges Lodging Museum.
