Many first-time visitors do a double take and recheck the address when they arrive outside The Cranley Hotel. It looks so quiet, so private, blending seamlessly into one of London's smartest residential neighbourhoods. However, closer inspection reveals the discreet gold plaque confirming that these three elegant Victorian townhouses are indeed a boutique hotel.
Another captivating first impression is created by the elegant lounge, where the reception arrangements are confined to an unobtrusive desk next to the honour bar. Already, you feel at home, and tempted to sink gratefully into the depths of a comfy sofa after your journey.
The bedrooms are furnished with an elegant Regency palate with soft gold, beige and cream tones, antique furniture and oil paintings; beds are handcrafted and cosseting covered in hand-stitched Irish linens and wools. Some luxurious suites boast four-posters and seating/breakfasting areas in bay windows. Rooms are also equipped with custom-built desks, Wi-Fi, bathrobe and slippers, minibar and DVD players.
Banu Restaurant features Persian cuisine, both traditional favourites and dishes with a creative and contemporary twist. Popular dishes include Zereshk Polo Ba Morgh, a chicken dish cooked with tomato and saffron sauce, topped with barberries and pistachios. A glass of bubble and canapes are also served every evening from 6 to 7pm.
A short step beyond The Cranley's front door, the celebrated Victoria and Albert, Science and Natural History museums vie with world-class shopping for your attention.
