What a stunning Yorkshire Dales country house hotel the Traddock is! The magnificent family-run Georgian estate, in the pretty village of Austwick was built on a trading paddock, hence, lovers of wordplay, ‘The Traddock.
The Traddock has sumptuous rooms, stunningly decorated with a deep and sophisticated colour palette as well as gorgeous Georgian and Victorian features such as wall clocks and wonderful paintings. The bathrooms are bedecked in luxury, some with rolltop baths. They have a selection of Molton Brown toiletries to pamper yourself with.
The sitting room has a large curved sofa, flickering log fire and adjacent to it, an award winning two AA rosette restaurant (as well as having won an AA breakfast award). The restaurant serves truly delectable dishes with largely created with local produce. It takes inspiration from long standing food traditions in the Dales as well as the English slow cooking movement. Meals are seasonal and ingredients locally sourced. Austwick boasts one post office, one shop and one pub but is just a short distance from market town Settle. The Settle to Carlisle railway line, which passes over the breathtaking Ribblehead Viaduct is one of the most beautiful in the UK.
The Yorkshire Dales National Park is waiting outside for rambling through and discovering limestone caves along the way. Beautiful York and Fountains Abbeys are also close by.
