Britain’s Churches: The Rosslyn Chapel, Roslin
Britain’s Churches have a long history, some even more than 1000 years. No wonder there are so many myths and legends told about Britain’s historic churches, cathedrals and abbeys.
This week’s blog will tell you more about The Rosslyn Chapel, Roslin.
The Rosslyn Chapel is situated in Roslin, seven miles from Edinburgh. It was founded in 1446 and is a very popular destination for tourists from all over the world. The Chapel’s popularity has increased tremendously since the publication of the novel The Da Vinci Code, by Dan Brown, which it featured in.
William St. Clair, third prince of Orkney, began building the Chapel in 1446. The Chapel’s remarkable carvings and architecture have inspired generations! The Chapel is still family-owned and the current owner, the Earl of Rosslyn, is a Trustee of the Rosslyn Chapel Trust which oversees public access and ensures the Chapel is cared for and maintained.
