There is more to Pembrokeshire than the beautiful Pembrokeshire Coast National Park which we introduced to you recently. There’s also Manorbier, a stunning village in the South West of Pembrokeshire and the small village Carew, situated in the West, as well as Pembrokeshire’s breath-taking scenery and glorious castles and heritage.

Find out about things to do and see in South and West Pembrokeshire below:

  • Manorbier & Castle – The picturesque village, Manorbier, lies in South West Pembrokeshire and is only a 15 minute drive from Tenby (a great town known for its beaches). The little village was once described as “the pleasantest place in Wales” by historian of his time and the Archdeacon of Brecon, Giraldus Cambrensis. Take a breath-taking walk along the cliffs, with views of the castle, church, staggering coastline and countryside of Pembrokeshire! As Manorbier is intersected by the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, you can walk from Tenby to Manorbier and take in the beautiful scenery! Psst when in Manorbier, do try to visit the castle. It has an enchanting garden and overlooks a stunning unspoilt beach!
  • Carew & Castle – The little village, Carew, has an eye catching 13th century castle which stands proud over the millpond and has a rich history, dating back to the Bronze Age. Visit the Carew castle, which has been occupied continuously from the 12th to the 17th century. It is said that it has even been occupied by a ghost! The castle is a must-visit, especially during the summer when there is a busy programme of events including re-enactments and pageants.
  • Colby Lodge – Colby Lodge is a beautiful and adventurous walk of 2.8 km in a wooded valley, containing mostly wide tracks and slopes which go up and down. The walk follows public paths through Colby Woodland Garden. To visit the Colby Woodland Garden you will have to pay an entrance fee at the reception as it is owned by the National Trust, but if you stay on the public path, you will avoid having to pay an entrance fee. On this described route you will find a description of the walk, directions and other information, including where to park your car and you will also find a free map!
