The Bees of St Ermin’s

We all know about “oranges and lemons and the bells of St Clement’s”…but the bees of St Ermin’s?

In fact St Ermin’s Hotel in central London, just round the corner from St James’s Park and Westminster Abbey, is home to over 300,000 Buckfast bees. A 3rd floor wildflower-strewn terrace has been dedicated to bees, and the honey gathered there is served at breakfast, in special cocktails served in Caxton’s Bar and is even on sale as a souvenir of your stay.

In an effort to help the public appreciate the importance of these pollinators, St Ermin’s will be offering a series of beekeeping workshops and tastings led by bee guru Camilla Goddard of Capital Bee. This two and a hour workshop discusses how best to plant town and country gardens to be beneficial to bees, includes a visit handling the bees, plus a delicious honey cocktail in Caxton’s Bar or Terrace.

The workshop price is £25 per person. All dates for 2015 are now sold out, but the hotel is keeping a list of interested parties and will offer further dates in 2016.
