Britain’s Best Getaways: A ‘wild’ getaway at London Zoo

Visit one of the most popular wildlife hotspots in Britain, the London Zoo.

Also known as ‘Regent’s Zoo’, the London Zoo opened its doors for the public in 1847 and has been entertaining visitors ever since. The Zoo is the oldest scientific Zoo in the world and though it is located in the city of London, it houses over 800 incredible species from around the world including lions and tigers, penguins, giraffes, camels, monkeys as well as lots of beautiful sea animals.

The zoo is divided up into many different areas, and there are daily events, feeds and demonstrations you can look at or take part in. For more on that, click here.

You could visit the mighty Gorilla Kingdom, be fascinated by the Butterfly Paradise and witness the beautiful sea animals in the aquarium. Or you could say ‘hi’ to some of the Zoo’s newest inhabitants. It’s a guaranteed fun day out for all ages with lots to do, plenty to see and so much to learn.

The Zoo, as part of the Zoological Society of London, also does some very interesting and important conservation work to protect endangered species and to educate people about these issues. To support this important work, and to find out more, click here.

London Zoo is located at the Northern part of Regent’s Park. To get there, it’s just a 10 minute walk through the park from Regent’s Park tube station on the Bakerloo line or a shorter walk from Camden Town tube station on the Northern Line.

Ticket prices vary so check their tickets page for more information. Currently, tickets are £15.90 for kids and £21.81. Group and family tickets are available, and under 3s get in for free!
