Sweeping past avenues of evergreens on more than sixty acres of beautifully landscaped gardens, arriving at Victorian Tylney Hall immediately conjures up images of another time. Crossing the threshold, sublime walnut paneled reception rooms await you.
The Italian Drawing room even has a Rococo ceiling that was transported bit by bit from a palace in Florence. Bedrooms are gloriously decorated with plush fabrics and decor to complement the original features. Orangery Suites are blessed with a view of the Water Garden, with its beautiful lily-covered lake, and the Duchess Master Suite has a four-poster bed with twists reminiscent St Peter’s baldacchino in Rome.
In the Oak Room Restaurant, with its gorgeous heavy drapes, you might start with duck and foie gras terrine and follow with fillet of sea bass, baby vgetables and saffron cream.
Tynley Hall owns The Health Suite, with an outdoor pool dubbed one of the ‘coolest pools in Britain’ by The Times , and indoor pool and gym in the converted stable building. Tylney’s grounds make for wonderful walks and there are opportunities to indulge in all sorts of bracing outdoor pursuits – from croquet to hot air ballooning. Pretty Winchester, with its array of beautiful oak-beamed old buildings, is not too far away.
