An army of skilled local craftsmen have used traditional building materials to preserve the authenticity of this 17th century hostelry.
The hotel is essentially a family business and has been owned by the Fitzwilliam Estate for over 300 years. Their intention has been to create a traditional country hotel - melding modern comforts with the time-honoured tenets of hospitality. The building itself has plenty of character, further enhanced by the newly restored period features. Interiors are elegantly styled and the luxurious bedrooms offer crisp luxury and up-to-the-minute bathrooms.
The Talbot's Executive Chef is is TV chef James Martin who was born and bred in Malton - a place now known as a destination for foodies. James and his team showcase the very best produce that Yorkshire has to offer. The hotel is a 20 minute drive from York. Castle Howard, familiar to many as the fictional “Brideshead” is on the doorstep, whilst Malton is the gateway to the Yorkshire Wolds, Moors and Coast. There are also many opportunities for country pursuits and the hotel has a gun cabinet and drying room.
