Food lovers the world over are attracted to The Peat Inn, the tiny rural village named after the Inn itself. Award winning-chef and food writer, Geoffrey Smeddle and his wife Katherine run the Inn together, welcoming guests as if it were their home.
As chef-proprietor, Geoffrey’s enthusiasm for local produce and seasonal ingredients is evident not only in the small touches in the rooms, such as the homemade cakes, but also the exciting menu in the newly refurbished Michelin-starred restaurant. The attention to detail continues in The Residence where the eight luxurious guest suites are furnished with fine fabrics and furniture. Each suite has a newly refurbished bathroom, pretty sitting room and all look out onto the manicured gardens of the Inn and surrounding countryside.
St Andrews is of course synonymous with golf but the area offers plenty more for visitors. The Kingdom of Fife is a land of interests, from the fishing villages of the East Neuk of Fife, to Falkland Palace, country residence of the Stewart Monarchs. Other attractions include Kellie Castle, Hill of Tarvit Mansion House and a wealth of interesting walks. If these are not enough to keep you occupied St Andrew’s golf course just might be. PLEASE NOTE: The Peat Inn is closed on Sunday and Mondays, year-round.
