Entrancing Views & A Warm Welcome at this Borrowdale Gem

TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence

Located right in the heart of stunning Borrowdale, Leathes Head Hotel is a lovely Edwardian country house. Built in 1909 for the daughter of a Liverpool ship owner, Leathes Head sits in three acres of private gardens and all around you is some of the most stunning scenery in the country.

The bedrooms are wonderfully comfortable and provide entrancing views of the surrounding landscape. All rooms come with digital flat screen television, radio stations, DVD player, free Wi-Fi, luxury toiletries and refreshment trays.

The experience of eating in the award-winning restaurant is not to be missed, indeed it's the first restaurant in the Borrowdale Valley to win 2 AA Rosettes.  Head Chef Daniel Hopkins is spolit for choice with the natural larder that is Cumbria and sources his ingredients from such renowned local suppliers as the Yew Tree Farm in Rosthwaite, Scales Farm for eggs, The Kendal Cheese Company and Lakeland Supplies.

The atmosphere here is peaceful and quiet – geared toward adults rather than children – and the staff is friendly and helpful in every way.  Leathes Head’s location makes it ideal for walkers and a great number of walk start from the hotel’s front door, some going uphill to such local fells as Catbells, Dale Head and Scafell, others gently leading along the valley to Grange Village (with it’s lovely stone bridge and wonderful views) and to Derwentwater. After a long day’s walk there’s nothing better than returning to a log fire and a well stocked bar. There is outdoor seating for fine days and a lovely conservatory when you prefer to sit inside and still take in those magnificent views.
