Quote Best Loved to get the best dealTeffont Evias is breath-takingly pretty and has hardly changed in 300 years - it's a real trip back in time and a quintessential pastoral setting. Howard's House itself sits in two acres of meandering Wiltshire country garden and croquet lawn, with ancient box hedges and secret corners, all adding to the romance. The House was built in 1623 and extended and renovated in 1837 following a previous owner's trip to Switzerland, the inspiration for the steeply pitched Swiss-style roof. On a more modern note, all have been redecorated and the result is a relaxed yet confident air of style and comfort that carries right through to the kitchen. Chef Nick Wentworth produces a menu yielding a treasure trove of delights. This magical place is all about good food, utter charm and comfort - in fact, if you can't relax here, you can't relax anywhere. Howard's House is also a lovely, peaceful base from which to explore the many fascinating sights in the vicinity, including the Cathedral at Salisbury, Old Sarum and Stonehenge.
