At long last a place which satisfies our childhood memories of perfect summers past and our contemporary aspirations for 'chic beach living'. The Cary Arms describes itself as a 'good English pub crossed with a boutique hotel'. It's a fresh sophisticated concept with a New England air and it makes sense when you learn that renowned British hoteliers, the De Savary family, are behind it. It stands for all that is great about the unspoilt English seaside holiday: walks along windswept beaches, the smell of briny air, the pleasures of rock pooling and idle days spent pottering about the seashore. Children are given their own fishing nets upon arrival. The food is 'gastro pub' in style and makes the most of local ingredients such as Lyme Bay lobster. There's also a BBQ for party bookings and groups. The interiors have a contemporary beach house feel with white walls and expansive windows accentuating the bright coastal light. Rooms are furnished with elegant simplicity and are decorated with striped ticking in bold maritime colours. Sandy feet can be washed in luxurious, minimalistic, bathrooms.
