Quote Best Loved to get the best dealCaer Beris Manor is a truly authentic country house, a place where you can soak up the peace of the countryside and enjoy all manner of outdoor pursuits, before returning in time to toast crumpets over a log fire for tea. This black and white timbered house, once owned by Lord Swansea, is situated within a 27 acre estate of beautiful natural parkland through which meanders the River Irfon.
Inside, the manor is elegantly furnished in keeping with its heritage, yet the atmosphere is decidedly homely and unstuffy. The bedrooms are impeccably clean and comfortable and the suites and four-poster rooms are very spacious. Some rooms have slipper or Jacuzzi baths and all offer peace, quiet and stunning views.
New Head Chef Spencer Ralph, fomerly at the acclaimed Walnut Tree at Abergavenny, has make Caer Beris a gourmet destination and his wonderful seasonal dishes served in Restaurant 1896 are not to be missed. There’s also a lovely conservatory with views of the river and the delightful Angler’s Bar.
Guests are actively encouraged to bring their dogs – and horses too. Some of the best fishing in the UK is to be found in this area. Guests can fish within the hotel’s grounds (catch and release only) or day tickets for nearby beats can be arranged – as can fly fishing tuition. Shooting, golfing and mountain biking are all available on the doorstep too.
