Hidden away at the top of a hill above Lake Windermere you will find Blenheim Lodge, a handsome Bed and Breakfast guest house run by the charming and personable Robert and Janz Duncan. From here the panoramic views of the lake are among the best in the Lake District, and while Blenheim Lodge is a secret oasis from the hustle and bustle of the village, it's only a five minute walk to the centre with all its restaurants and attractions. Every bedroom save one boasts lake views (and the one which doesn't has a lovely view of the woods). The atmosphere is that of a friendly and cosy family home, and the Duncan's personal attention to their guests makes Blenheim Lodge very special indeed. The bedrooms exude old world charm and are furnished with antiques as well as the standard modern conveniences. Attention to detail is everywhere - pocket-sprung mattresses and luxury bedding, wool carpets, made to order curtains, and bathrooms stocked with the finest products. For breakfast there are absolutely delicious locally sourced handmade sausages and hand-cut bacon, plus fresh milk and eggs delivered daily. The Duncans are keen that their guests make the most of their stay. They are happy to arrange private tours, offer use of two free fishing permits (first come first served), plus Robert is a keen golfer and can arrange tee times, tuition and rentals at the local Windermere Golf Club. The Dales Way begins right near the doorstep and guided walks can be organised; drying facilities make Blenheim Lodge very walker, golfer and fishermen friendly. Guests also have free access to a local private country club with pool, sauna, Jacuzzi, steam room, gym, racquet sports, solarium, and spa treatments for those wetter days.
