Scotland in 1773. Today this unassuming, but totally immaculate country house, retains the same family atmosphere they remarked upon centuries before. Skye's wild and most haunting landscape gives an effortless backdrop to this hotel's sumptuous bedrooms and imposing wooden beds that dwarf their occupants. To go and soak in one of the rooms' en-suite roll-lip baths is not to spite the sweeping views of the Loch and Cullin. They will be there when you re-emerge. Chef Bruce Morrison is well-known on Skye for his food which uses the freshest of local produce such as Loch Bracadale seafood and Glendale salads. Seafood features regularly on the menu as well as Scottish beef and venison. Ullinish's desserts are inventive and enticing. Skye is host to numerous villages that pepper the battered coastline of this Atlantic outcrop. Craft shops, farmers markets and spectacular sunsets abound on the gorse ridden shores of this romantic isle.
