Rolling up to the main house via the south drive you pass along a spectacular arching avenue of mature limes, hydrangeas and rhododendrons. The house itself is an oasis of tranquillity set in a natural amphitheatre of mature larch. Beyond, a stirring burn tumbles past the house through the beautiful gardens and down to the sea.

Here on the south side of the island, the genuinely charming Laurence and Katie treat guests to Cordon Bleu food and an elegant, relaxing home from home. The impeccably furnished and decorated en-suite bedrooms have stunning views across the gardens and Loch.

Tiroran is a perfect base for visiting the nearby islands of Iona, Staffa (home to Fingal's Cave) and Ulva, or for the more adventurous, to climb nearby Ben More, Mull's only Munro. A drive around the west side of the island via the spectacular Gribun Rocks offers one of the best views in Scotland. Wildlife abounds, sea eagles and golden eagles circle overhead, otters and dolphins bask and leap in the water.
