In the 1840s, Sir William Worsley decided to turn the village of Hovingham into a spa. Now the spa is long gone and what remains is the original hotel, a handsome late Georgian building full of old world charm. Overlooking the village green and opposite Hovingham Hall, the birthplace of the Duchess of Kent, The Worsley Arms welcomes its guests with friendly service, attractive lounges and crackling log fires. The bedrooms are tastefully decorated and come with all the modern conveniences. Dining at the Worsley Arms is a treat, and you may choose to eat in the informal bar or the elegant dining room, where you will find an interesting selection of freshly prepared dishes made from locally sourced ingredients. The marvellous food is complemented by an excellent wine cellar with wide selection of hand picked bottles from across the globe. Situated almost in the centre of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, the Worsley Arms is the perfect base for magnificent country walks, stately homes such as Castle Howard and historic sites such as Rievaulx Abbey.
