The Wild Duck(Cirencester, Gloucestershire, UK) |

The Wild Duck is a mellow Cotswold stone Elizabethan inn - a typical local English inn, warm and welcoming, rich in colours and hung with old oil portraits of English ancestors. Large open log fires burn in the bar and the oak-panelled residents' lounge in wintertime. There are 12 bedrooms, 11 of which have four-poster beds and overlook the garden, while the largest in the Chinese suite is 10 ft tall. The inn's garden is secluded, delightful and perfect for al fresco dining in the summer. The bar offers six real ales, and the wine list is extensive and innovative. The country-style dining room offers fresh seasonal food, including game in the winter and fresh fish delivered overnight from Brixham in Devon - this can include such exotic fare as parrotfish and tilapia! Within a mile's journey, The Wild Duck is surrounded by the Cotswold Water Park, with 80 lakes providing fishing, swimming, sailing and water skiing. Polo at nearby Cirencester Park is a regular event, and every March Cheltenham holds the Gold Cup Race Meeting. Horse trials at Gatcombe Park and Badminton are also held annually - an excellent incentive for a visit, but who needs an incentive!
