The White Lion(Aldeburgh, Suffolk, UK) |

This place is highly recommended to those who wish to get away for a few days of rest, relaxation and fresh sea air. The White Lion is situated above the long shingle beach in the ancient Suffolk coastal town of Aldeburgh. Aldeburgh is, of course, home to the internationally acclaimed Festival, but is also famous for its fisherman's huts from where the daily catch is still sold. Having been recently refurbished, the place is looking quite stunning. The interiors were created by a team of expert designers who have gone for a strong contemporary British feel. The bedrooms are decorated in attractive colour schemes, some with seascape tones, and are exceptionally comfortable and stylish. The bathrooms are very well equipped and have extra thick white towels and eco-friendly, ginseng based, toiletries. The food at the White Lion is a huge draw: they have gone 'back to basics' and created simple, yet artistically presented, dishes using the very best local ingredients such as smoked kippers from Orford and freshly caught fish from the fisherman's shed opposite. They also serve a range of drinks, including fine Suffolk brewed ales.
