The Trout Inn at Tadpole Bridge(Faringdon, Oxfordshire, UK) |

The Trout Inn at Tadpole Bridge belongs on the pages of Kenneth Grahame's Wind in the Willows. This historic inn is situated on the Thames Path surrounded by glorious Cotswold scenery and is just 20 minutes from the centre of Oxford. It is owned by Helen and Gareth Pugh, who have run a number of the best country house hotels in their time. At the Trout Inn they have cleverly combined high quality modern British cooking, outstanding bedrooms (which are very country house hotel in feel) and a truly authentic free house - the likes of which are now few and far between. They serve cask ales from neighbouring breweries and have 'real' locals. With children themselves, they have made it very family friendly. A lot of effort goes into sourcing their ingredients. Shellfish comes from Cornwall, game is provided by local shoots in season and trout comes from the local river. This level of thought results in an exceptional menu. The Inn actually has its own beat. Some bedrooms have an English country feel but a number would not look out of place in the latest boutique hotel. An inspired choice for those that appreciate quality, character and authenticity.
