The Torridon(Achnasheen, Highlands, UK) |

The Torridon was once a shooting lodge and originally built for the first Earl of Lovelace in 1887. It has been refurbished and lives on as a family owned and run country house hotel. It is now one of the finest hotels to be found on the west coast and, with an imposing highland setting, genuinely stakes a claim for the most dramatic. The hotel, with its superb bedrooms and bathrooms and impressive drawing room with a magnificent Zodiac crest ceiling, sets standards of luxury rarely found in such wild regions. With log fires, cosy chairs and fine cuisine, this is a must for those who appreciate good food and wine. Set amidst some 58 acres of mature trees and parkland at the foot of majestic mountains on the shores of Loch Torridon, the area is renowned for being one of nature's marvels and, without doubt, has one of the most striking skylines in Scotland. Glittering snow-tipped pinnacles, rocky turrets and spires - a massive fortress of mountains which is at once both breathtaking and awe-inspiring. For the hill walker, mountaineer and kayaker, the area is a natural paradise. Their vast malt whisky selection will also take your breath away.
