The Salutation offers luxury B&B accommodation set in 3.5 acres of historic Lutyens and Jekyll gardens. The accommodation is located in three buildings within the Salutation's grounds - namely the Queen Anne Knightrider House, The Coach House and the Gardener's Cottage. Each property has its own sitting room, dining room/area and an up-to-the-minute kitchen. The rooms can be taken on an individual basis, and they also lend themselves to private parties. The decor is elegant and indulgent with highly polished period pieces and a restful palette of creams and whites. The bathrooms are exquisite. At The Salutation you have the best of both worlds - the individuality and character of a private home combined with the comfort and luxury found in the very best hotels. The Salutation is a Grade I listed manor house built by Sir Edwin Lutyens at the turn of the last century for three wealthy brothers who sought a country retreat where they could take the coastal air. This exquisite house was eventually left to become derelict for some time until 2005 when the current owners lovingly and expertly renovated the entire property. The 'Secret Gardens' are now open to the public, however, the house, protected by the City Wall, remains decidedly private.
