Built by John Wood of Royal Crescent fame for the Marquis of Queensberry in 1772, the house retains its splendid period plasterwork and fireplaces. The bedrooms are individually styled and luxurious, serving as the perfect pied a terre in this historic city. There is a delightful courtyard garden, drawing room and cocktail bar, but the focal point of the hotel is The Olive Tree Restaurant, which proprietor Laurence Beere describes as a 'contemporary restaurant' - informal and modestly priced with modern British cuisine using fresh local produce. The Queensberry could not be better placed for visiting the highlights of Bath; the Roman Baths, Theatre Royal, Assembly Rooms and Royal Crescent are all close by. A meander downhill takes you past the antiques markets and the best shops outside of London and on to Bath Abbey, where the famous spa waters await your toes.
