Originally built as a gentleman's residence in 1895, The Pines Hotel has been in existence since the present owner's parents purchased the property for her in 1963. From that day Betty Duffin has taken the Pines hotel from strength to strength, and it is now one of Lancashire's landmark hotels. The Pines offers its guests creature comforts and the personal touch that is so often lacking in todays hotels, and some of the guest rooms include four poster beds and Jacuzzi baths. The Pines Restaurant, which holds an AA rosette, serves delicious food, with many of the ingredients being farmed locally. Positioned three miles from Chorley and six miles from England's newest city, Preston, Lancashire's 'best kept secret' is less than a mile from the M6, M65 and M61 motorways. At the weekends the Pines is the hub of entertainment, from the luxuriously refurbished Dixon Suite, where the weekly cabaret nights are renowned throughout the area. The experienced team at the hotel have created a much sought after wedding venue, holding civil ceremonies. For a taste of history, explore Chorley's Hoghton Tower. It has been the ancestral home of the De Hoghton family since William the Conqueror and the family still occupies it. The young William Shakespeare worked here and King James I was just one of many English monarchs to have stayed in the tower.
