The village of Hathersage lies in the middle of the Peak District National Park surrounded by the rugged beauty of some of Britain's most spectacular scenery. It's perfect for walking, cycling and bird watching, and for some visitors, Hathersage is a place of literary pilgrimage famous as the setting for Charlotte Brontė's 'Jane Eyre'. This 500 year old traditional Derbyshire alehouse has been completely transformed into a beautifully designed haven while still retaining its original character. The bedrooms, many of which have been recently renovated, are bright, comfortable and offer every modern amenity. In the restaurant, Chef Helen Heywood has established a fantastic reputation for using fresh ingredients from local suppliers to create wonderfully flavoursome dishes presented simply and with a minimum of fuss. The service is friendly and efficient and wooden flooring, feature lighting and modern style beautifully complement Helen's dishes. Hathersage makes an excellent base for exploring Chatsworth, the plague village of Eyam, Bakewell - famous for the tart, Blue John mines of Castleton, The Lady Bower Dam (used as a training ground for the Dam Busters), plus it's only 20 minutes from the centre of Sheffield and within easy striking distance of Manchester.
