It has been family-run for more than forty years and has the exciting addition of a building that sports a large, almost palatial, swimming pool, sauna, gym and a bar. Many of the rooms here have an Atlantic view of St. Ives and the bay. The main building houses both traditionally decorated rooms and more modern rooms, to be found on the lower ground floor. The rooms each have private bathrooms and flat-screen LCD televisions. Once a retreat for well-to-do gentlemen, there are echoes of that heritage still here, and a vast array of whiskies and gins can be enjoyed by the log-burning fires. The whole place has the light and airy feel found in only the best coastal retreats. The award-winning restaurant offers an extensive wine list that includes some great Cornish wines. Yes, Cornish wines, and delicious they are, too. The menu sources local ingredients and often includes beautiful fresh seafood, such as mussels and wild sea bass. The Garrack is a wonderful place from which to explore St. Ives, as well as the marvellous Cornish coast.
