A feast to remember at this out-of-the-way hotel

Surrounded by rolling moorland but nestling in a wooded coombe, Exford is one of the prettiest villages on Exmoor. One of the moor's original 17th century coaching inns, the Crown continues to be prized by travellers and locals alike. Now completely refurbished to its former glory under new owners, this family-run hotel has been brought sympathetically into the 21st century. Comfortable lounges and bedrooms are complemented by a restful and luxurious dining room where the chef serves some of the most wonderfully exciting food on Exmoor. The hotel maintains its original stable yard which guests may use when bringing their horses to Exmoor. The hotel's 3 acres of gardens are a perfect spot for a leisurely stroll along the trout stream, while just beyond the gate the stunning moorland beckons, teeming with wildlife - here Exmoor ponies, red deer and birds of prey roam freely. Riding and other country pursuits, including game and clay pigeon shooting and fishing, can be arranged by the hotel. Relax afterwards with cream tea in the beautiful water gardens in summer, or with a hot drink or local ale by a roaring log fire in winter.
