English country pursuits and a little taste of heaven in Devon

The Arundell Arms has long been recognised as one of Britain's top sporting hotels. An old coaching inn, it nestles in a peaceful valley fed by the River Tamar and its tributaries. Devotees of English country sports come here to... More About Arundell Arms fish, shoot, ride, play golf and birdwatch, others come to walk or simply relax and enjoy some of the loveliest unspoilt countryside in the southwest.

The hotel has been owned by Anne Voss-Bark since 1961. A highly respected former Woman Hotelier of the Year, she has created just the kind of comfortably elegant surroundings and convivial atmosphere that instantly puts guests at their ease. There is peace and quiet in the sitting room, a buzz of chat in the bar, delightful bedrooms and an award-winning restaurant where Master Chef, Steven Pidgeon and Matthew Worsfold, share credit for the highly praised modern British cuisine.

This is a quiet paradise for experienced and novice fishermen. The hotel owns 20 miles of water frequented by wild brown trout, salmon and sea trout. Advice, lessons and tackle are here for the asking. If fishing is not your bag, there are famous houses, rugged moors and mysterious menhirs to be explored.
