The food was excellent, staff pleasant and welcoming, the room a good mix of modern and traditional. Ambience very comfortable and relaxing throughout. Highly recommended!Carlie and Paul S
Relax and recharge in a truly majestic Dales setting
Way back in the 1700s, an elegant Georgian residence was constructed overlooking a paddock where the Dales village of Austwick hosted a horse trading market. It must have seemed only natural to name the house after the...More About Traddock neighbouring 'trading paddock', hence the Traddock - a name that this lovely hotel's owners have readopted, much to the delight of the villagers. Jane and Bruce Reynolds have created a tremendously engaging fusion of traditional country-house comfort and real style, complete with English antiques and log fires and just the right touch of sophistication to create a more intimate ambience in the attractive bar area. The garden decking for sunny summer days is another bonus. In the pretty bedrooms, the look is crisp but cosy, and there are some fabulous antique beds. The restaurant is Jane's domain, loosely modern British with an emphasis on seasonal local and organic produce. Austwick itself is astonishingly unspoilt, and the magnificent walking country encompassed by the Yorkshire Dales National Park literally begins at the Traddock's front door. Scenic railways, limestone caves and the tourist delights of York and Fountains Abbey are within easy reach.
