What are the rooms like? Tres chic... And the food? To die for The Observer
Balcony living with Riviera views and a taste of the colonial

The Cornish Riviera is unlike any other part of England. Daphne du Maurier and Agatha Christie both sought inspiration in this corner of the country. The Marina Hotel could easily be one of the locations that later inspired their... More About Marina Hotel writing and appeared in the pages of some of their best selling novels. Clinging to the shores of the Fowey estuary, the Marina's verandas and wrought iron-work balconies doff a cap to colonial days. This is balcony living with a gin and tonic in one hand. Boats merrily float past throughout the day and as the sun goes in and the evening wear comes out, you can see the lights of Polruan twinkling across the river Fowey. French sleigh beds, 'Hypnos' mattresses, feather pillows, luxurious Egyptian cotton linen and secure garage parking all conspire to offer you a blissful night's sleep. The Marina's head chef Nathan Outlaw has won Michelin Stars in his previous two ventures and joins the team with his signature restaurant, Restaurant Nathan Outlaw. The elevated dining room capitalises on the hotel's location with deep river-views. You feel as if you could reach out and touch the sea below. In the summer, the barbecue flares up delivering char-grilled Cornish seafood with a glass of crisp, chilled white wine.
