Pork pies have been produced in the town by Dickinson & Morris, since 1851 and there are several dairies in the surrounding locality producing their own varieties of Stilton. Built in 1911, Sysonby Knoll has been owned and managed by the same family for the past 40 years, and during this time it has grown from a six bedroom house to the present 30 bedroom hotel complete with internal courtyard and conservatory style restaurant. The hotel has six spacious executive bedrooms in an annexe, all furnished to a particularly high standard. The three four-poster rooms in the main building are traditionally furnished and retain many of the architectural features of the original house. The bar, coffee lounge and restaurant enjoy rustic views of the surrounding gardens and river, a welcome addition to a comprehensive breakfast served while you plan the coming day. A good value lunch menu is available as well as a comprehensive a la carte menu at dinner. Sysonby Knoll has much to offer the business traveller with good facilities for smaller conferences and Wi-Fi access throughout the hotel.
