This Victorian Lakeland house stands in an elevated position above a lovely stone terrace and sweeping lawn. The property looks out across Esthwaite Water and the Grizedale Forest that lies beyond. The village of Near Sawrey is situated to west of Windermere and is within easy reach of Ambleside, Coniston and Windermere itself. A quick flick through the guest book reveals that Sawrey House has many happy customers: along with the views and the food, the thoughtfulness of the staff and the overwhelming sense of quiet makes a lasting impression. This sense of quiet is most noticeable in the bedrooms, which have commanding views of the surrounding landscape. All the bedrooms have been recently refurbished to a very high standard and are cheerful and extremely comfortable. They are spacious and many have king or super king sized beds. For special occasions there's a deluxe room with plush canopied four-poster and double ended bath tub set in front of a fabulous picture window. The food is extremely good and has a rustic, homemade feel with many Cumbrian flavours. As you might expect much of the ingredients is sourced locally including the Fell bred lamb.
