Sandown House is quite a find. A former dairy farm, it is located at the end of rural lane on the outskirts of Nairn - a few minutes' walk from the beaches of the Moray Firth. Sandown is h ome to Andy and Liz Burgess, who evidently take a great deal of pride in their property and their recent refurbishment is quite stunning. There are two bedrooms in the main house and another four across the courtyard. In keeping with its rural heritage, the bedrooms have a simple rustic feel but with a contemporary edge. They are finished off with cushions in beautiful, mellow coloured tartan tweed. Most rooms have excellent views of the coast and one room has a balcony, whilst another has a small private terrace. Bathrooms are right up to date and have large walk-in showers, luxuriously thick bathrobes and expensive toiletries. The breakfast is exceptional and all dishes are freshly cooked to order using locally sourced ingredients. The Moray Firth is known for its resident dolphins so don't forget to bring your binoculars. The area is also renowned for its many famous golf courses, with Nairn Golf Club itself being right next door to the hotel.
