A sublime oasis on the doorstep of ancient battlegrounds

PowderMills is a stunning 18th century country house hotel set in 150 acres of parks and woodland just outside the historic town of Battle. This is '1066 country' - where William the Conqueror fought and killed King Harold. The hotel, with its historic atmosphere and legendary surroundings, is ideally located for exploring these most beautiful and ancient parts of Sussex and Kent. Battle itself and the Abbey are a must! Originally a gunpowder mill, the hotel has been skilfully converted into a country house. Rows of books in the library are kept company by interesting oil paintings on the walls. Elegant furniture is a feature of the PowderMills and is found everywhere from the drawing room to the private Georgian dining room with its enormous antique table. The Orangery Restaurant, with marble floors, Greek statues and windows opening onto the terrace outside, has received glowing ratings and awards for its fine classical cooking. The hotel is an excellent choice for private events, from the music room where civil ceremonies are held to the Pavilion, a delightful conference centre away from the main hotel with its own parking facilities and suitable for concerts, weddings and events.

Through town of Battle on A2100, direction Hastings. First turning right into Powdermill Lane. After one mile Hotel is on right-hand side of lane after sharp bend.
