Originally a gunpowder mill, the hotel has been skillfully converted into a country house. Rows of books in the library are kept company by interesting oil paintings on the walls. Elegant furniture is a feature of the PowderMills and is found everywhere from the drawing room to the private Georgian dining room with its enormous antique table.

The Orangery Restaurant, with marble floors, Greek statues and windows opening onto the terrace outside, has received glowing ratings and awards for its fine classical cooking.
