Pittodrie House is a grand turreted baronial mansion house standing within a vast and ancient Highland estate. The thick stone walls, high ceilings and spacious rooms create a calm and muted atmosphere. Combine this with the surrounding stillness and you have an unparalleled retreat from the modern world. Owned by the AA Hotel Group of the Year 07/08, Macdonald Hotels, the property has been carefully preserved and retains a decidedly authentic feel. Parquet floors are highly polished; ancestral portraits adorn the walls; colour schemes are deep and rich and period antiques feature throughout. There's an Orangery, Library, Ballroom, Snug Bar and traditional Billiard Room with wood burning stove. There's also a picture book walled Victorian garden. Thankfully, the sizeable bedrooms have been styled in keeping with the character of the property and feel more like a private country house than a hotel - except for the up-to-the-minute bathrooms and many luxurious little touches. Eating here is an intrinsic part of the Highland experience. Ala carte menu incorporates the finest local produce and is full of true Scottish flavour. Their white fish is sustainably sourced, the beef is 21 day matured and game features when in season.
