Pentillie Castle & Estate(Saltash, Cornwall, UK) |

This magnificent Castle, opened in June 2009 after extensive renovation, now offers luxury B&B in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the banks of the River Tamar. The Pentillie Estate comprises a land area of almost 2000 acres, lining the Cornish bank of the River Tamar for almost two miles. The gardens and grounds have changed little since Repton designed them, and there are many interesting features including lovely woodland walks down to the river. Built in 1698, Pentille Castle's accommodation is simply glorious. Far from being hotel-like, the bedrooms retain the air of luxurious guest rooms of a grand private residence - which, of course, is exactly what it is. The period rooms are spacious, fresh and bright with elegant antique furnishings and traditional English fabrics. The bathrooms are delightful with free-standing baths, decorative fireplaces and panoramic views. Afternoon teas and barbeque lunches can sometimes be served on the terraces or in the 'Bathing Hut', which also offers an unrivalled setting for a private candlelit dinner or high level meeting. Only 20 minutes from Plymouth and within easy striking distance of Dartmoor, this is a marvellous location in which to indulge yourself. There are few places in Britain as romantic and magical as Pentillie.
