This attractive, honey coloured, stone watermill is situated on the banks of the River Nene surrounded by a leafy verdant landscape. It is less than half a mile from the centre of the traditional market town of Oundle - famous for its historic school. The Mill is one of the country's most chic hotels and manages to perfectly combine sophisticated high design against a rustic and tranquil pastoral backdrop. Oundle Mill offers a distinctive experience: the bedrooms are outstanding with exposed oak beams, stone walls and, in the rooms in the loft space, high vaulted ceilings. Contemporary, six foot, beds and modern Italian furniture grace the rooms. In the bathrooms you'll find large walk-in showers, luxurious double-ended bathtubs (some located in the bedrooms themselves) and Elemis toiletries. There's a bar downstairs and upstairs a restaurant with river views, both of which are highly urbane with stone walls and modern silver-grey and black furnishings. Head Chef Jeremy Medley has a very distinctive style and his menus are innovative and intricately crafted. His past experience includes long stints at a number of five-star London hotels and baking fairy cakes with his mum and nan - which is where it all began.
