This neo-gothic country house set amidst a scenic 100 acre estate has a legendry angling heritage as it owns a two mile stretch of the Moy - one of the world's greatest salmon rivers. The hotel opened as a luxury 4-star hotel and spa in 2006 after the new owners had completed an extensive restoration programme. The results are spectacular and evoke a feeling of staying in a private period home with all modern comforts. The spacious bedrooms have high ceilings and original cornices. Many rooms feature marble fireplaces and pitch pine floors and shutters. Bathrooms are opulent and some have magical views of the forest. As you might expect, salmon, trout and eel make it to the kitchen. Head Chef Philippe Farineau is passionate about sourcing local Irish produce and is spoilt for choice with a natural larder on his doorstep. The restaurant, housed in the original kitchen and pantry, has a bright contemporary feel. Not only is Mount Falcon an unparalleled angling destination, it's a first class spa too offering the latest Elemis treatments. This is complemented by a steam room, Jacuzzi, gym and stunning pool. This winner of the AA Hotel of the Year for Ireland 2009/10 will be appreciated by anglers and non-anglers alike.
