Personally run by Ted and Beverly Clayton and her sister Alison, Mortons House Hotel is a historic sixteenth century Elizabethan Manor House in the beautiful village of Corfe Castle in the Isle of Purbeck. The Manor is one of the earliest in Corfe and without doubt, the finest. Built in 1590 in the shape of an 'E' to honour Queen Elizabeth I, it has in more recent times been sympathetically converted into a 21 bedroom hotel. The individually decorated rooms are beautifully furnished, feature quality courtesy products and many have views of the Castle, while others look towards the Steam Railway and Purbeck Hills. The Elizabethan Room, in the original part of the manor, is a beautiful suite for any special occasion. The Dacombe rooms - with their own terrace, seating area and purpose-built bathrooms - are situated within the beautiful walled gardens and are accessible to all. Proud of the two AA Rosette awards received for its traditional English cuisine, the restaurant also boasts an excellent wine list. Rooms are available for private parties, conferences, civil weddings and receptions. The location of the hotel provides the perfect centre from which to enjoy this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in an idyllic corner of England, taking in the sights of the Jurassic coastline, Kimmeridge Bay, Lulworth, Durdle Door and Swanage with its famous Steam Railway and the beautiful beaches at Studland.
