The Manor House in Castle Combe is one of England's original country house hotels. Situated in the heart of the Cotswolds (and just a short drive from Bath) in what is widely regarded as the most picture perfect medieval village in the country, this 14th century golden stone manor house offers an authentic country house experience with sophisticated modern-day overtones. In the luxurious bedrooms you'll find bare stone walls, oak floors, exposed original beams, highly polished antiques and a combination of contemporary and traditional, countrified fabrics, plus queen or king sized beds with handmade mattresses and breathable duvets. Downstairs is the Michelin-starred Bybrook Restaurant, which has just won Wiltshire Restaurant of the Year award. As an alternative there's also the casual dining Clubhouse, which overlooks the first tee and serves great British food using local produce. There's also a very stylish bar and comfy traditional lounge with open fire. The golf course was designed by Peter Alliss, the BBC commentator, and Clive Clarke. Its 17th hole has been rated one of the top Par 3's in the world and the course is generally regarded as one of the very best in the South West.
