The site of Llansantffraed Court dates back to the 12th century, with the present house in William and Mary style standing in 19 acres of parkland. A hotel since the 1920s, Llansantffraed Court still holds true to old-fashioned standards of style and service. Inside, the individually-styled bedrooms (some with oak beams and dormer windows) offer a spacious charm graced by magnificent panoramic views. In the lounge, real fires await on cold days and on the terrace, afternoon teas delight in warmer weather. Food is something taken quite seriously at Llansantffraed Court; daily-changing menus take advantage of local delights, complemented by an award-winning wine list. Particularly tempting samples include rare roast Bwlch venison, spiced gnocchi, cranberry compote and venison faggot or tartare of Welsh black beef, egg yolk crème, truffle honey and crispbread. Meetings, weddings and celebrations are a particular specialty, with space to cater for up to 200. Outdoors plenty awaits, whether on the grounds or nearby - on-site guests can enjoy archery, croquet, bowls, go-karting, putting, quad biking and fishing on the hotel's own lake. Further afield, golfing abounds in Monmouthshire and all manner of sport is available in the Wye Valley, Brecon Beacons and the Forest of Dean.
