More About Lake Vyrnwy Hotel & Spa
origins back in the late 19th century, when the city fathers of Liverpool dammed the Vyrnwy Valley to create a fresh water supply for the city. They ensured the water's purity by purchasing the surrounding 24,000-acre catchment area and transformed it into a sporting estate with a splendid lodge - the present-day hotel.
The former lodge has delighted countryside enthusiasts with its magnificent location, comfort and style for more than a century. The guest rooms are spacious and individually decorated; many are furnished with antiques, and some have four-poster beds, Jacuzzis and private balconies. For true pleasure seekers, the superb new spa boasts an 8 person spa pool overlooking the lake, a huge range of treatments and therapies from Arabian rasul mud treatments to salt inhalation aromatherapy, sauna and steam rooms, as well as a technogym fitness room. In the restaurant the head chef takes pride in sourcing most of his ingredients from local suppliers, while the estate provides game in season.
Vyrnwy offers unrivalled opportunities for outdoor pursuits such as tennis, sailing, clay shooting, archery and trout fishing on the lake or walking, cycling and birdwatching around the estate. Further afield, Powis Castle, the Offa's Dyke Path and several great little mountain train rides are within easy reach.
