Historic Cambridge has long lacked a stylish, privately owned hotel, but all that changed with the opening of Hotel Felix in 2002. Originally built as a Victorian mansion in 1852, the Hotel is now a chic and contemporary property, providing 52 wonderfully elegant bedrooms. For those in the know, this is the sister hotel of the luxury Grange Hotel in York. Graffiti, the hotel's restaurant, serves excellent modern British food in lovely surroundings where the walls are hung with large specially-commissioned canvasses; tables overlook the gardens, Orangery, attractive gazebo and terrace, where al fresco dining is available during the summer months. The adjoining bar is a relaxed and welcoming area for less formal dining and drinks. Set in attractive gardens and surrounded by fields, Hotel Felix is the perfect location from which to explore Cambridge and beyond. It's just over a mile from the city centre, has plenty of car parking, and is just 20 minutes drive from the famous Newmarket racecourse.
