Set amid the magical surrounds of the Peak District National Park, Holmefield Guesthouse is an enchanting Victorian retreat ideal for that special getaway. Standing in more than an acre of mature gardens with uninterrupted views over the Derwent Valley and the District's historic steam trains, Holmefield has been lovingly restored by resident owners Kate and Geoff to bring out the glamour and understated luxury of its Victorian heyday. Replete with plush leather chairs, soft rugs and an open fire, the sitting room is the perfect space to relax and unwind. Indulge in an aperitif, delve into one of the many books from the library or simply enjoy the splendid views to the crackling sound of the open fire. Many of Holmefield's luxurious rooms and suites feature exquisite period furniture, king size four poster beds and freestanding Victorian bathtubs right beneath the window. Light, airy and individually appointed, the rooms are equipped with modern luxuries such as TVs and DVD players. Commanding excellent views over the valley, the dining room features original mouldings and cornices and forms an excellent backdrop for both breakfast and evening meals. With ingredients sourced from local farms, the menu is inspired by the stunning countryside around it and abundant with game, venison, local salmon and red meat. Located between the picturesque towns of Bakewell and Matlock and only minutes drive to Chatsworth and Haddon Hall, Holmefield Guesthouse is ideally located as a base to explore the Peak District.
