An impressive estate set in two leafy acres of land, once owned by the famous Musgrave merchants (owners of Budgens), Hayfield Manor is a marvellous 5-star luxury escape. Rich embroidered curtains hang from window; the grand staircase rises proudly and symmetrically to the top floor. Bedrooms go from the simplest of the intricately adorned, the Superior, all the way up to the Master Suite - a real artwork bedecked in sublime antique furniture, and with a marble fireplace and his and hers bathrooms - hers with a Jacuzzi bath his with a power shower. There's even 24-hour butler service. The fantastic Orchids Restaurant features cloth-wrapped columns and huge bouquets of vibrant flowers. Where possible, food is locally sourced. You can have something like slow roasted belly of free range pork with seared foie gras and caramalised apple and cider jus as a main course. In the hotel's exclusive Beautique spa enjoy an indulgent facial before slipping into the outdoor Jacuzzi or sauntering off to the steam room, then recline in an antique chair beneath a glitzy chandelier. The hotel is only a short walk from Cork City centre, with its famous English Market - the haunt of many a foodie. You can ring the bells in St. Anne's Church and out of the city, County Cork has the wonderful Cobh Museum overlooking the railway and Blarney Castle with its Stone of Eloquence.
